The India Government (Postal Circle) conducts the Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA) Examination once in a year. This year too, India Post had notified Postal Assistant /Sorting Assistant Recruitment which will be held in February to March 2014. All those candidates who have applied for this post and are looking for its exam syllabus in order to preparing for India Post PA and SA written examination, 2014.

What to study and how to study for Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant 2014, is one of the most frequently asked question by all those candidates who are going to appear for India Post examination 2014. As we all know, the India Post examination will consist of a written examination and Computer / Typing Test. Fortunately, India Post provides syllabus for Postal Assistant and Sorting Assistant (PA/ SA) Examination.

India Post Syllabus:

Candidates must cover the topics we have mentioned below in order to preparing for India Post Postal and Sorting Assistant exam 2014. We have also discussed about India Post exam pattern. The written examination for will be held of the following subjects for the post of Postal Assistant and Sorting Assistant posts followed by Computer based Typing test respectively. The subject/ Paper we have listed below, there will be asked most number of questions in India Post examination.

Paper I:Paper 1 is compulsory for each and every candidates who have applied for India Post Office Postal Assistant / Sorting Assistant Exam. Check out the detailed syllabus below.

General Awareness/ Knowledge: Candidates are required to focus on Current Affairs (last 6 months updates on appointments, deaths, awards, summits etc), History, Indian Polity and General Science. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. Candidates can help any monthly magazine for cover current affairs and other General Knowledge questions.

General Intelligence/ Reasoning: There will basis reasoning in the question paper that includes questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The paper will be also consisting of symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions. We strongly recommended candidates to solve previous year question paper for complete details about Reasoning & Mental Ability section.


Mathematics: There will be 10th (Matriculation) standard questions in this section. Candidates should cover basic maths starting with simplifications, approximations, ratios and proportions, simple and compound interests, percentages, averages, profit loss, time and distance, time and work, speed and distance, Mensuration etc. It will be great to focus on Mensuration and Simplifications as there will be more than 10 questions from these areas. Here will be no question from Data Interpretation. Refer to previous year question for more detail.


English Grammar & Comprehension: English Language paper will be consist of its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. We strongly advised to go through the English Grammar completely. Read previous year questions for the types of questions which is asked in India Post Office examination.
Paper II:Paper 2 is a computer based skill test to test candidates’ knowledge of computer. Aspirants qualified in the written examination is only eligible to appear for this test and only qualified candidates are called for Computer / Typing Test.

Computer / Typing Test: The skill test will be of 30 minutes. This test consists of two parts. Those are Typing Test (15 minutes) and Data Entry (15 minutes). Candidates must have ability to type 30 words per minute (in English) and 25 words per minute (in Hindi).
